I did it! I completed NaNoWriMo!

Nano_08_winner_large After a month of sneaking in writing whenever possible, and probably some times when I should have been working, I finally did it!  I completed 50,000 words worth of a novel during the National Novel Writing Month!  Yippee!  I haven't written that many words about one subject ... EVER!  So this is awesome for me.

I started out with a very steady pace of a couple thousand words a day ... which lasted about a week.  Then, I had a few days where I fell behind, having to concentrate on other things, or just plain getting unmotivated.  But then, I had a couple of days where I wrote 5,000 words or 8,000 words!  It helped that Ben went out of town on those days so I didn't have to worry about things like fixing a big meal or making sure laundry was done.

Then, just before Thanksgiving, I was around 49,000 words ... soooooo close!  But, I was cooking my first Thanksgiving Dinner so I had to put off the writing for a few days and clean the house, prepare the bird, find the perfect recipes - yada, yada, yada.

But, this morning, I woke up before Ben and decided I was going to get this sucker finished TODAY.  And it only took me an hour or so to get to the grand prize - 50,000 words!!!!!!  Woo Hoo!  As you can tell, I'm pretty stoked. <--- and I don't think I've ever used that phrase in real life.

Yeah me!  Now I just have to remember to take the time to finish the darn thing.  There still isn't an ending and there are a LOT of inconsistencies, but I still like the basic story, so there's a good chance I will finish it ... sometime in January!  LOL

That's all for now.  Hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving and didn't get carried away with their Black Friday spending!

Day 1 - NaNoWriMo Challenge

Well, I've basically finished up Day 1 of the challenge.  I've got 1,939 words down and I feel pretty good about that for the first day.  If I want to get to 50,000 words by the end of the day Nov. 30 then I have to write at least 1,667 words per day.

It went fairly easily too.  But I suspect that's because I've been obsessing about my plot for the last week and had a surge of words waiting to spill out.  I was nervous that I'd thought too much about the whole thing and that the writing of it would be somewhat ... anticlimactic.  But, it felt good.  And, I feel like I have a lot more to write, so that's good.  I know it's still early goings ... but I'm optimistic.

So ... I'm gonna try to stick with that outlook throughout.

See me in 15 days or so!  LOL
